100X

A lot of people ask me about how I started my entrepreneurial journey…
Maybe you’ve seen me on a 100X ad, or heard a piece of my story from the stage at a 100X conference…

If you are one of those, and you’re curious to know more… I want to give you the opportunity to hear the story of how 100X forever changed my life.

I’m sharing the extended version… feel free to read the headlines and skip ahead if you don’t have time to read the whole novel… but I think if you read it, you’ll be glad you did!

First, let me paint the picture of “before”…

BECOMING A SINGLE MOM
After going through a divorce (the Lord literally rescued me out of a horribly dysfunctional and abusive marriage) and becoming a single mother, I became totally independent for the first time in my life. I refused to go home to my parents to ask for help, and was determined to do whatever it took to be home with my little girls and continue homeschooling while somehow supporting us financially.

My mindset was….”I just need to make enough to pay the bills.”

Throughout my season of single motherhood, I completely rebuilt my life. I surrendered everything and fixed my eyes solely on Jesus. He healed my heart, restored my identity, and showed me how to dream again.

LAYING A NEW FOUNDATION
(that would later become my kingdom business)

I started reading about the life of Heidi Baker and was so inspired by her life and fearless devotion to the Lord. Although I couldn’t go to the ends of the earth to love on children in poverty, the Lord told me I could serve the ones right where I was planted. So I did- I started a ministry called “Kingdom Kids.” The teenage girls I had been discipling every week joined me and my daughters, and we went to the housing projects in our little midwest town and fed them, shared the Gospel, and gave Holy Spirit room to move. We saw food multiplied, physical healings, and salvation. It was one of the best seasons of my life.

I also read every book on revival, parenting, inner healing, and the prophetic that I could get my hands on. I went to spirit-filled Christian conferences every year and surrounded myself with like-minded believers who were going after Jesus hardcore.

A SECOND CHANCE AT BEING A WIFE
About 3 years into single motherhood, God brought me the man of my dreams. About a year after we met, we got married. He came with 4 kids – I had my 2 daughters- and we have since had one together- so that’s a grand total of 7 kids. We live on a beautiful farm in central Illinois and it is LITERALLY a dream come true. Like a real-life Cinderella story.

NEEDING SECONDARY INCOME
Because I had been working so hard for the last several years, homeschooling, waitressing, owning a home daycare, and finishing my Bachelor’s Degree… Dave was thrilled to offer me the opportunity to just be a stay-at-home mom. I homeschooled and took care of our children and home and actually slept again! But soon it became apparent that with this many kids and so many expenses, I needed to bring in some extra money.

I started working as a virtual assistant. Although I had been writing and blogging for awhile, this never generated any income, and being a VA let me still have flexibility and work from home. My goal was just to make extra grocery money. I was serving entrepreneurs and learning all about digital marketing and funnels…and it never occurred to me I could be on the other end of this deal, -the one needing an assistant myself.

I SAW AN AD FOR KINGDOM ENTREPRENEURS
When I first saw Pedro Adao’s Facebook ad in July of 2018, I was immediately intrigued- Pedro not only mentioned Heidi Baker, Bill Johnson and Kris Vallatton, true heroes in the faith to me… but he also mentioned big names in the digital marketing arena- Russel Brunson, Gary V, etc.

Can these 2 worlds really go together? If so… I need to be where they are colliding.

But I was skeptical... so I did my homework. I saw that this Pedro guy lived in Vacaville, California- the same town that my high school youth pastors lived in… so I wondered if they might possibly attend the same church. Turns out- Pedro DID go to the church where they were on staff, and they knew him! He was an actual real person… and not only that- they said he was a great guy. So I joined his free masterclass and dove in head first.

AWAKENING
As Pedro taught about the kingdom and becoming an entrepreneur as a way to bring glory to God and prosperity to my family, my mind was blown. Instantly, the poverty mindset started to break off and I was dreaming bigger. It was like scales were removed from my eyes. I started to see the value in me- the foundation I had been building for years- and the power of my story. I was putting the pieces together of how I could use my breakthrough to form a business that would not only be a huge blessing to my family… but it would also set women free and give them the opportunity to have the breakthrough I got in a FRACTION of the time because I had already learned the hard way! I was SO excited.

THE OFFER
At the end of the masterclass, I knew there would be an offer to continue the journey with Pedro and this community that had quickly become like FAMILY. And I mean family so, so literally. THESE WERE MY PEOPLE- it was like coming home- we had the same DNA and somehow, we all magically congregated in the same group (I later discovered this meant Pedro’s FB ad targeting was ON POINT! lol).

Because money was tight, I set myself up for accepting the likelihood that we wouldn’t be able to afford the cost of Acceleration. When Pedro made the offer that evening in July, I remember sitting in the living room with David and all the kids… and all of a sudden Dave went outside.

I was actually a little annoyed… because I really wanted to listen to Pedro and hear all that was being offered, so that when I shared the opportunity, I could make it sound really good! I didn’t want to have to deal with the baby or interruptions from the other 6!

After a little while, he came back in and asked me what the offer was… I told him the price and trying not to look too disappointed- I started to say, “It’s ok- maybe we can save up and do it later.”

HE DIDN’T HESITATE
I looked at him in complete shock as he pulled out his wallet and handed me the credit card we had just payed off.

“What? Are you sure? Shouldn’t we pray about it?” I asked…
“I just did.” I’ll never forget the warmth in his eyes and smile in that moment. And the words he said next are forever imprinted on my heart too.
“Now is your time,” he said. “I’ve been watching you these past 2 weeks and I’ve never seen you more alive. It’s like you were made for this. I believe in you- and I don’t see this as a cost. It’s an investment in you, and in our future. I know you can do it.”

Cue tears. It still makes me cry!
No one had ever believed in me like this before- and I could see his unwavering confidence. Total assurance that this wasn’t just “ok”- it was a WISE investment.

SINCE 100X….
I started a business, TheJoyfulMama.com, and immediately started serving a Single Moms. My heart was burning to lead them through the same process to breakthrough that the Lord had taken me through.  In a day, I launched and with my first Facebook ad, and built my first digital course Live on the go. I was terrified… but I trusted Pedro’s leadership, so I just did what he said to do.

I was shocked when people started actually buying my course. Women were actually getting breakthrough. I was building a community of my own- modeling it after what I was seeing happen in 100X- and it was changing lives.

Also, I was continuing to grow in my mindset and confidence as a kingdom entrepreneur. I was bringing others into this movement and seeing God completely up-level them as well. As I was learning to dream bigger and expect more, I was showing others how to do the same.

LEGACY
I’m now at the stage of taking my business to the next level- adding more things I can offer my community, and dreaming with God about how big we can grow! I’m holding it all with open hands and letting Him carry it all where He wants to take me. I went from a single mom group (it’s called Single, Not Alone) – to a course – to 1:1 consulting- to an exclusive membership community- to hosting elite all-inclusive weekend getaways for moms (who desperately need a break… which is all moms). 🙂 I’m collaborating with other entrepreneurs I would have never met without 100X and we are going farther and faster together than we could ever do individually.

NONE of this would have happened without 100X! None of it.

One thing I’ve learned from 100X and being in a prophetic and kingdom-minded community is that IT IS NOT ABOUT ME! It seems like it is, in the beginning…and there’s a lot of heart work to do. But really,… it’s about legacy. It’s about expansion. It’s about what imprint I’m leaving on my kids, my family, my community- about the goodness of God.

For a long time, I thought I was glorifying God by being content in being poor. That somehow, in my poverty- I was holy because I lived a simple life of LACK, but was okay with it. 

The Truth is that in the kingdom, there is no lack. And prosperity doesn’t mean I just accumulate wealth- it means I CAN BE AS GENEROUS AS I WANT! It means freedom!! I can give and sow and share without hesitation. That’s what Jesus did for us- and in doing it ourselves, we point to Him.
